Eau Claire (WQOW)- There may be no need more basic than the clothes we wear. The shirts, pants and socks that we rely on, to keep us warm and dry. We're shining the spotlight on a woman with a big dream and an even bigger heart, working to keep the community around her warm.
"It was a slow process, donations by word of mouth. and then gradually word of mouth spread," recalls Inez Dascher. And so, 'King's Closet' Was born. A traveling closet, where anyone in need of pants or maybe a warm winter coat, can shop for free.
In the past 4 years, over 30,000 articles of clothing have been given away. "Inez has one of the biggest hearts that I know," commented Kirk Frey, who volunteers with King's Closet. "She is willing to help anybody, anytime with anything. With the King's Closet in particular she takes the clothes home, she goes through them she'll wash them if they're dirty. Her heart is in this to help people."
But this is just the beginning, not the end of Inez's dream. The goal is open a shop in downtown Eau Claire, where those who need clothing can find it, free of cost, no questions asked.
"I cant even tell you the emotions," says Inez. "Sometimes I get all choked up about it because it's just such a wonderful feeling to be able to help someone in that situation. And we've had people come that have also given clothes because we helped them at the last giveaway and now they want to return, we see that a lot too and that's what it's all about."
