Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire school is adding a new math event, thanks to RCU and WQOW News 18.
Roosevelt Elementary is the first recipient of the new Tools for Schools program. WQOW News 18 teamed up with RCU to select classrooms that need a financial boost to get a special project off the ground. Friday, RCU presented Roosevelt with a check for $300. That money will be used on a family math night at the school. Families will be able to learn how to expand their child's math skills through certain games. Roosevelt will also use the money to buy a set of dice and playing cards for every student so they can play math games at home with their family.
"It's an opportunity to bring our families into school and strengthen that connection, not only the math connection, but also the community feeling that our school is a place, not only where our students can learn, but our families can together as well," says Principal Melissa Olson.
WQOW News 18 will hand out the next $300 award in January. To learn more, click here.
