Firefighters called to Eau Claire apartment

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Firefighters use a ladder to help rescue people from an Eau Claire apartment. 

The fire happened on Fairfax Street near Meadowview Elementary on Friday afternoon.  No one was hurt.  A passerby spotted smoke and called for help.  Firefighters were able to get everyone out of the apartment building safely and put out the fire.  It was contained to one apartment, causing about $50,000 in damage.  Investigators say the fire started from clothes being too close to a heater.
