Menomonie (WQOW) - A Menomonie school can add to its math instruction through a new program from RCU and WQOW News 18.
The program is called Tools for Schools. WQOW News 18 teamed up with RCU to select classrooms that need a financial lift to improve education. Friday, WQOW News 18 was at Wakanda Elementary in Menomonie. RCU presented Anne Hasse's 5th grade class with a check for $300. Anne applied for a grant to pay for an online math program.
"I looked at the website with the kids and we thought that for our independent practice portion of our math block, that this program would totally fill the bill, to let kids take ownership of their learning and tackle benchmarks that they still needed a little bit of work on, yet at the same time staying true to our district curriculum, so allowing kids to go faster, allowing kids to slow down if they needed it, and kind of pace themselves when it came to math," says Hasse.
Congratulations to Anne's 5th grade class! WQOW News 18 will hand out the next $300 award in February. To learn more about Tools for Schools, or to submit a nomination, click here.
