SOMERS (AP)- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department says some recent racially-motivated threats at University of Wisconsin-Parkside were a hoax.
The university had tightened security after threats were made against black students. But the Sheriff's Department said in a news release Friday night there was never really any threat of harm to students.
The agency says a student who was on a list of targets confessed that she created that list and fliers found in a dormitory. The lists and fliers were found after a report of a rubber band noose found in a residence hall.
The department says the student created the list and fliers because she was not happy with the initial response from a resident assistant to the noose.
Sheriff David Beth said he expects charges to be filed.
