Hammond woman going to prison for child abuse

Hammond (WQOW) - A woman is going to prison for depriving her daughter of food and forcing her to sleep on a concrete floor in the basement.

That's where deputies found the teen in a fetal position last July. Elise Will of Hammond was also accused of forcing the 14-year old girl to sleep in a tent for a week, and not allowing her to eat for four days. The girl also said she was forced to sit in a dark room for a month, except when she was in school or using the bathroom.

Will told detectives her daughter did not eat every day, because she would not comply with family rules. Thursday will was sentenced to three years in prison. In 1998, she was convicted of abusing the same girl in Chippewa County. The girl was a one year old at that time.
