Fall Creek (WQOW)- The director of local nature reserve is retiring after more than 30 years on the job.
Rick Koziel started working at Beaver Creek Reserve back in the 1970's. Today staff at the reserve threw a retirement party to thank him for his many years of service. Koziel says what he will remember most is the time he spent teaching young people about nature and the environment.
"They come back as adults and still remember the experiences they had out here and share with me the influence that had on their lives," says Koziel. "Many of these students have gone on to environmental careers and that's special I think when you can touch a kid's life like that."
Koziel says he is proud of the endowment they have set up at the reserve, aimed at continuing to educate future generations about the outdoors.
