Altoona (WQOW) - New information about a fraud investigation. Not only was a man allegedly using a cancer charity to scam businesses, an event for Special Olympics was also misrepresented.

Monday night, WQOW News 18 reported on the investigation into Sean Davis. Police say he approached a number of businesses in Altoona and Eau Claire, asking for them to sponsor an event put on by CureSearch, a children's cancer organization. Police say he was using the charity's name, without its permission.

Once the story aired, victims started coming forward in other communities. The Barron Police Department says six businesses say they were scammed by Davis for anywhere from $10 to $200. The businesses say he was very smooth and would collect donations for various events, including the Polar Plunge.  A Special Olympics representative says they've never heard of Davis before.

Then, WQOW News 18 heard from Rice Lake Police who say numerous reports of theft or fraud involving Davis have been made.

Davis is being held in the Eau Claire County Jail. Anyone else who may have been scammed should contact police.
