Menomonie (WQOW) - Chickens could be in the future for a local community.
Monday night, the Menomonie City Council discussed whether it should look into creating an ordinance that allows people to keep chickens in the city. Several residents spoke in favor of having an ordinance. No one showed up in opposition of the idea. The council decided to form a special committee to research the issue and come up with an ordinance.
Also at the meeting, the council voted to raise the room tax. The money collected would raise city revenue by $40,000. A portion of the money would be used to promote local tourism.
