Spring Primary results: Eau Claire School Board election is set

Posted:

Western Wisconsin (WQOW) - Tuesday's primary narrowed the list of candidates for the Eau Claire School Board election.

Six candidates were on the ballot and four advanced to challenge for two spots in April.  The two incumbents, Wendy Sue Johnson and Kathryn Duax, were the top two vote-getters on Tuesday.  They were followed by Dave Westrate and Wallace Brucker, who will join them on the ballot in April.

On Westrate's Facebook page, he asked voters to support him and Brucker.  Brucker is a surgeon in the National Guard.  He was recently deployed to Afghanistan.

Other results from the Spring Primary saw the field narrowed for two mayoral races.  In Altoona, Ray Henning and Jack Blackburn advanced to the general election in April.  The current mayor, Bill Spangler, decided against running for re-election.  There was 12-percent voter turnout in Altoona.

In Menomonie, it's a showdown between the current and former mayor.  The incumbent, Randy Knaack and Dennis Kropp were the top two vote-getters Tuesday, so they'll move on to face each other in April.  There were more than 1,500 votes cast in Menomonie.

In Chippewa County, there was a primary in district one for county supervisor.  Chuck Wachsmuth and Hunter Oemig will move on to the general election and in district seven, Michael Goettl will match up with former Sheriff Ralph Coushman in April.
