Town board approves sand mining moratorium

Posted:

Chippewa County (WQOW) - The Town of Auburn has approved a nine-month moratorium on frac sand mining.  The vote from the town board was unanimous on Wednesday night.

Three companies want to mine sand in the town.  They were unable to reach developer's agreements with the town before Wednesday night, but WQOW News 18 has been told if they come to terms and do what the town is asking for, they could be exempted from the moratorium.
