"Fake Democrat" files to run in 29th Senate District

WAUSAU (WAOW) - It appears there will be a Democratic primary in the 29th State Senate district.

According to online campaign documents, James Buckley of Antigo filed paperwork Friday to run as a Democrat.

If Buckley collects enough nomination signatures it would force a primary against Democratic Asssemblywoman Donna Seidel (D-Wausau). It would also delay the general election by about a month.

The state Republican Party confirms that Buckley is a protest candidate.

A call to the phone number listed as Buckley's residence went to the Wisconsin GOP Google voice account.

Former State Senator Pam Galloway had been facing a recall challenge from Seidel but resigned abruptly last month.

Assemblyman Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon) has announced his intention to run as the Republican candidate against Seidel.
