MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has tagged the largest sturgeon in Wisconsin history.
Officials found the over 7-foot-3-inch long, 240-pound female on the Wolf River near Shawano on Tuesday.
The DNR estimates the sturgeon was born around 1887.
Officials tagged 565 sturgeon on Tuesday -- the most ever in one day.
The DNR says tagging provides key information about the sturgeon population.
