Menomonie (WQOW) - University students could be called on to help enforce a tobacco ban.
UW-Stout has been looking for ways to enforce its campus wide tobacco ban. The university was considering a fine, but it would have been to expensive for anyone caught violating the policy. Instead the campus will hire students to monitor tobacco use on campus and talk to anyone caught breaking the rule.
The university isn't sure how much the one-year pilot program will cost, but doesn't think it will be much. It also plans to look into grant possibilities.
