Milwaukee (WQOW) - A
new poll shows Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has opened up a commanding lead in
the democratic race for governor.
38 percent of people surveyed for a
new Marquette Law School
poll say they favor Tom Barrett in a democratic primary. Kathleen Falk is second with 21 percent.
Tom Barrett - 38%
Kathleen Falk - 21%
Doug La Follette - 8%
Kathleen Vinehout - 6%
Just over a month ago, the same poll
showed Barrett with just a seven point lead. The one silver lining for Kathleen
Falk is that 19 percent of democratic voters say they are still undecided.
Still, these numbers make it an uphill climb for Falk, who announced her
candidacy two months before Barrett, and has gotten more endorsements and
financial support than any other democrat.
"All along this
last year, the political pundits have been proven wrong, so, we will see on
election day, which is now, six days from now," says Kathleen Falk.
The poll further shows that Barrett
would fare much better in a head to head matchup with Governor Scott Walker.
Among likely voters, the governor holds a one point lead over Barrett at 48 to
47 percent.
