Eau Claire (WQOW) - Thanks to all that heat, the Fairfax Community Pool is sure to be a busy place.
Eau
Claire's parks and recreation department will be awarding pool scholarships
again this year. The scholarships reduce the total cost of a summer pool pass
for families undergoing financial hardship. Last year 54 scholarships were
handed out. There have already been nearly 40 given out this year.
"The person getting the scholarship
will pay twenty-five percent. And you know, it just helps families that
normally couldn't afford to come have good family fun this summer. It gives
them the chance to afford that, and it's really a good thing," said Chad Duerkop of Eau Claire's Parks and Recreation Department.
Donations from the community cover
the remaining cost of the pool pass.
Scholarship applications can be
filled out at the Eau Claire
parks and recreation office during normal business hours. Duerkop says they
will accept donations and hand out passes until at least the end of June.
