Eau Claire (WQOW) - The school year is about to end for Eau Claire students, but the work will continue on new handbooks for district employees.
On Monday, the school board met to review the handbook. It's been a work in progress for the past year. The handbook is needed to replace contracts that were collectively bargained. One proposal is to pay employees over a 10-month period, instead of on a 12-month cycle. The board is also reviewing potential changes to sick leave and the grievance process.
"For example, the grievance procedure, it was recommended that we follow the strict state guidelines and our board wanted to broaden that up a bit at least for the first year so that we make sure that there is a fair and consistent process for any concerns that employees may have" says Eau Claire Area School Board President Carol Craig.
The board could approve the final handbook during its next meeting on June 18th.
