Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Express had their chances against Madison, but 12 runners left on base came back to haunt Eau Claire.
Madison got a 3-run home run from Phil Sorenson in the 5th to take a 4-0 lead. Eau Claire was able to capitalize on some Madison mistakes to cut the lead to one after the 6th inning. But with bases loaded in the 9th, but Nick Addison struck out to end it. Manager Dale Varsho says his team needs to take advantage of its opportunities.
"When we needed something, we didn't produce at all," says Varsho. "Plus when you don't pitch the ball and get first pitch strikes, it gets to be a hard game to watch again. A couple balls Ty (Forney) let them play him instead of him going to get them. There's just a few things that we need to get more aggressive with."
Eau Claire begins a three-game road trip tomorrow against Battle Creek.
