Eau Claire (WQOW) - Road construction will be a familiar sight downtown over the next few weeks.
Starting Tuesday, work will begin to repair curb and gutters, and sidewalks along Graham Avenue. Traffic will be down to one lane at times and parking will be allowed on only one side of the street. Repairs are expected to take two weeks.
Immediately after that, work will begin to fix pavement on Graham Avenue. That's expected to take one week. The city has decided repair the roadway instead of replace it because of the indecision about what will happen downtown. The repairs should help it last seven to nine years and would allow Graham Avenue to handle re-directed traffic flow from Barstow Street when that goes under construction.
