Pierce County (WQOW) - Search crews have recovered the body of a western Wisconsin boater who went overboard into the water a week ago.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says Troy Goehrs' body was recovered from the shoreline of Lake Pepin near Maiden Rock on Friday afternoon. Goehrs was boating with his wife last Saturday. His wife says he fell over the side of the boat. She jumped in after him and then swam to shore for help.
Goehrs was from Bay City. He was 38 years old.

On 6-9-12 at 6:14PM the Pierce County Sheriff's Department was notified of a missing 38 year old male subject who had been boating in the area of Lake Pepin East of the Village of Bay City. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department received information from the complainant, a 36 year old female that she had been boating with her husband in Lake Pepin. The female subject stated that she had observed her husband fall over board into the water.
It was reported by the female subject that she had jumped overboard into the water to attempt to save her husband. The female subject swam to shore and was able to walk to a residence in Bay City to report the incident to authorities. A search was conducted of the area and a boat was recovered east of Bay City in Lake Pepin. A search will resume in the morning for the male subject. Assisting at the scene was Goodhue County Sheriff's Department Water Patrol, Wisconsin DNR, and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Recreation Water Patrol.

The name of the missing male subject is Troy Goehrs from Bay City Wisconsin. The female/wife discussed above is Brenda Goehrs.
The search for Troy Goehrs is still ongoing. Officers are using boats and sonar equipment to check the area of the suspected drowning. They are also using boats and all-terrain vehicles to check the shoreline and aircraft to attempt to locate the subject. Agencies that have been assisting with the search include Sheriff's Deputies from Pierce and St. Croix Counties in Wisconsin. Sheriff's Deputies from Goodhue, Dakota and Washington Counties in Minnesota. Wisconsin DNR Wardens from several counties, and Minnesota State Patrol.

On Friday June 15, 2012, at approximately 2:15PM, the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office along with Water Patrol Deputies from Pierce County, Goodhue County and the WI DNR did recover Troy Goehrs body from the shoreline of Lake Pepin near Maiden Rock, WI. Sheriff Nancy Hove would like to thank the employees of the Wisconsin Industrial Sand for their assistance with the recovery of the victim.
