Menomonie (WQOW) - Bicycle riders had a chance to see
the best from around the world in Menomonie Saturday.
The city
was host the nature valley grand prix for the third straight year. Menomonie is
just one stage of the event, the men's course covered 95 miles while the
women's was 76. Riders from across the country and around the globe compete on
each leg of the race.
"It truly is
educational not only for us but for the riders also to see the different
aspects of Menomonie. The hills that we have, the atmosphere that we have. The
turnout, even though it's a little bit overcast today and slightly wet, has
been great," said Menomonie Mayor Randy Knaack.
Besides the
professionals, there were three levels of amateur competition and a spectator
ride for people to get a taste of the challenge.
