EAU CLAIRE (Press Release) - From June 25 through Aug. 17, Garfield Avenue on the
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus will be closed to vehicular
traffic from Park Avenue to just west of Hibbard Hall.
A new steam line and storm sewer will be installed during the
eight-week closure. The installation will require the digging of an open
trench across Garfield Avenue at approximately the southwest corner of
Hibbard Hall.
Provisions will be made for pedestrians to travel through the area at
all times. When necessary, a footbridge traversing the open trench will
be constructed.
During the closure, motor vehicle travel to and from points west of
the closed area will be (1) via the campus hill on Garfield Avenue (the
university will open the hill to the public during this time) or (2) via
a route through the university's Phillips parking lot to a new
connector road on the east side of the Nursing Building, then along
Putnam Drive to Garfield Avenue (and vice versa). (See campus map.)
