MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison man who allegedly rammed a car with a woman and an eight-year-old boy inside is charged with second degree reckless endangerment, a felony crime.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, 59-year-old Craig Halverson limped with a towel wrapped around his right knee.
According to court documents, Halverson became upset with another driver on June 15, allegedly running that driver off Whitney Way, and then rear ending her car.
Authorities say the other driver, Nicole Anthoine, had her eight-year-old old son in her car. She called 911, and drove to the police department's west side precinct.
Court records show Halverson also drove to the police precinct, and admitted to ramming the woman's car: "Well she was trying to get away from me, what am I supposed to do?"
A Dane County Court commissioner gave Halverson a signature bond and ordered him not to drive as one of his bail conditions.
Halverson's wife, Connie Halverson told 27 News her husband has no criminal record, is normally a respectful driver and has been frustrated by a pattern of erratic driving near their home on South Whitney Way. Halverson says her husband's knee injury was not connected to the Friday incident.
