Boyd (WQOW)- Officials say maple syrup production is down across the state.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says maple syrup production in Wisconsin is down 68 percent this year.
The early spring is to blame. In order for farmers to have a successful season it's best to have cool days followed by freezing nights.
We spoke to a local maple syrup producer who says like everyone else, their production is down this year.
"I figure we got probably a third of what we should of had," said Helen Dahm, Dahm Sugar Bush.
Wisconsin wasn't the only state to have a low harvest, overall U.S. production fell 32 percent.
