Washington D.C. (WQOW)- A local volunteer is being honored in a big way in our nation's capitol.
Over the past year WQOW News 18 along with the Marshfield Clinic have been recognizing volunteers who go above and beyond with the Jefferson Awards for public service.
Inez Dascher is one of those award winners. She began a non-profit in Eau Claire called King's Closet. It's a place where anyone in need of clothing can shop for free. In the past 4 years, over 30,000 articles of clothing have been given away. Inez was chosen to represent our community at the national Jefferson Awards ceremonies in Washington D.C. taking place this week.
"I am overwhelmed, I am just overwhelmed," says Dascher of the event. "With the people and their service, and their inspirational stories, I just can't begin to tell you it is just beyond words what people do for their communities and what a wonderful world we live in because of these people."
A Jefferson Award winner is selected each month. To learn more about the award or to nominate someone head to our Jefferson Awards page.
