Eau Claire (WQOW)- Efforts to go green has a local college looking to expand.
Chippewa Valley Technical college is looking to expand and renovate it's Transportation Center. The nearly eight million dollar project would be the new home of all the college's energy related programs.
CVTC says it will help meet a growing demand of high school students and workers interested in renewable energy.
"Not only do we see that this is where the jobs are going to be in the future, but we also see in the existing jobs across all different sectors, whether it be healthcare or the financial industry, that there's an energy element. And really the people who'll be working in those industries need to understand that and the impact that energy has on there industry that they're working in," said Aliesha Crowe, Dean of Energy Division.
The project is part of the 2013 budget which board member will vote on Thursday night. If approved they hope to break ground next year.
