NWL Wednesday: Express-Rafters Suspended

Posted:

Wisconsin Rapids (WQOW) -- For a third straight night, the Express builds a lead against the Rafters, but rains at Witter Field cause Wednesday's game to be suspended with Eau Claire leading 5-2 in the 5th.

The game will be resumed on July 9th, when the Express is scheduled to visit Wisconsin Rapids. After the two teams complete their suspended game, they'll play another seven-inning contest.

Wednesday, the Rafters get a leadoff homer from Sean Godfrey, but Eau Claire starter Sean Renzi settles down after that, holding Wisconsin Rapids to just one more run.  The Express gets a 3-run HR from Nick Addison in the 4th inning to take the lead.  For Addison, it's his third home run in the last three games.

Jimmy Allen adds a 2-run single in the top of the 5th, to increase Eau Claire's lead to 5-2.

The Express road trip continues Thursday, when Eau Claire goes to Green Bay to begin a three-game series with the Bullfrogs.  The Express will play a single game in Madison, Sunday, before returning to Carson Park Monday night to start a series with Battle Creek.
