New Information: Former day care employee charged with sexual assault

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - One of the alleged sexual assault victims of Thomas West attended the Altoona day care center where West worked.

West was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting two young boys. A woman told police her 4-year-old son said West had touched him perhaps 100 times while he was going to the bathroom.

Investigators say West admitted touching boys' genitals in the bathroom to make sure they stayed dry. A friend told investigators West loved children and he would trust him with his own kids. But that friend then asked his 6-year-old son if anything had ever happened. He says the boy revealed that one night West had crawled into bed with him and touched him inappropriately. The boy said West tricked him into promising not to tell. The boy also told his father he did not want to go to jail.

West's bond was set at $20,000.
