Eau Claire (WQOW)- Local businesses are joining forces to help the homeless.
Ten businesses in downtown Eau Claire are collecting donations for homeless shelters run by Western Dairyland Community Action Agency. They operate seven homeless shelters in west-central Wisconsin, four of which are right here in Eau Claire.
The money raised will go towards paying rent, building maintenance and any other costs associated with the homeless shelters.
"In the past we've been mainly a grant funded organization but as those grants become harder to get we've had to turn to other resources and one big possibility for use is community donations," said Dale Karls, Western Dairyland Community Action Agency.
The area businesses will be collecting donations form June 25th through July 25th. They hope to raise 2,500 dollars.
