Cornell (WQOW) - A standoff at a Chippewa County resort ends peacefully.
It happened very early Friday morning at the Pike Lake Resort in Cornell. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says it was trying to arrest 29-year-old Josh Weggen stemming from a few separate incidents earlier in the week. Deputies say Weggen wouldn't get out of his camper so they formed a perimeter.
They believed he may have several guns and knives... and at one point, they say they saw Weggen with a knife in hand. The Chippewa County Response Team was activated and eventually, with the help of a friend of his, Weggen came out. He was then taken into custody.
