
Courtesy: University of WisconsinPittsburgh, PA (WQOW) -- Eau Claire's hockey programs have a history of producing NHL talent. Saturday, a new chapter is added. Former Eau Claire Memorial standout Jake McCabe was selected in the second round, pick 44 overall, by the Buffalo Sabres.
That's the highest an area player has ever been selected. McCabe was in Pittsburgh for the NHL Draft, and was able to hear his name called surrounded by family and friends. WQOW-News 18 sports anchor Stephen Kelley spoke with McCabe following the pick, and he says it is the highlight of his hockey career.
