BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- A fire truck collided with a tractor that turned into its path on the way to a fire in the Town of Beloit.
The Rock County Sheriff's Office says the chief of the town's fire department was driving the Dodge Durango fire truck to a house fire Friday afternoon when he encountered a slow-moving tractor driven by a 35-year-old Orfordville man. The tractor driver turned into the truck's path just as Fire Chief Dennis Ahrens was attempting to pass.
Ahrens was wearing his seat belt and was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital where he was treated for back pain and released. The tractor driver was not injured.
The fire truck was severely damaged, while the tractor sustained only minor damage.
