Express outfielder Ryan ShoberEau Claire (WQOW) -- The Express makes it interesting Tuesday night, but Eau Claire can't come all the way back, losing 4-3 to the Battle Creek Bombers in front of 1,821 fans at Carson Park.
The Express spots the Bombers a 4-0 lead, but Eau Claire comes up with a two-out rally in the 3rd, thanks to RBI from Ryan Shober and Tim Zier. In the 4th, a Nick Addison RBI single plates Jimmy Allen to pull the Express within one, but Eau Claire can't get any more runs across the rest of the way.
Express starter Sean Renzi settles down after giving up four runs in the first three innings. Renzi allows four hits over his six innings, with eight strikeouts.
"I think we got a pretty good effort out of Sean," says Shober, "and offensively we put a couple good innings together, we couldn't quite capitalize the way we had hoped, but defensively we are playing better baseball, and hopefully it's kind of a sign and we'll turn it around heading into the second half. "
The Express has now lost 17 of its last 21 games.
