Dunn County (WQOW) - The value of a local plant is increasing and one town might use the added revenue to cover the cost of extra elections.
Property owned by Fairmount Minerals in Dunn County was assessed at $6.9 million in 2011. That almost doubled what the property was assessed at the year before. The Town of Red Cedar says the assessment came after improvements were made. Because of the assessment, the town's share in tax revenue almost doubled, to $10,496. The town says the extra money will be used to pay bills, which could include covering the cost of added elections.
