Eau Claire (WQOW) - Police believe graffiti that appeared over the weekend is gang related.

The Eau Claire police department is investigating 44 separate cases of graffiti in the Birch Street area.  The graffiti was discovered on several garages in the area on Sunday.  Police say it was done with a dark permanent marker, and believe the same person is responsible for all of it.

Officer Tim Porn, with the Eau Claire Police Department, says, "The gang graffiti that was on some of the garages, it wasn't on all of them, it was on anywhere from probably six to eight garages. The letters TRG were on there, it was actually spelled out on one garage, Tiny Rascal Gang, which is an Asian gang, basically out of California or we have some out of the Minneapolis, St. Paul, area."

Police do have a person of interest in mind,  they are not releasing a name. The crime is considered a misdemeanor.
