Eau Claire County (WQOW) - An Eau Claire County town puts the brakes on sand mining projects for now.
Last Thursday, the Town of Bridge Creek approved a six-month moratorium. A board member says people have raised concerns about frac sand mining at meetings and they want to make sure everyone is satisfied. They'll spend the next several months studying the issue.
The moratorium won't affect the plans for Hi-Crush, which wants to mine sand in Bridge Creek. However, it's unclear whether this would impact a new application from Five Star Telecom. That company, out of La Crosse, bought about 160 acres in Bridge Creek in hopes of mining sand.
