Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Despite blowing a three-run lead, the Express offense provided some fireworks in the bottom of the 10th, getting a walk-off hit from second baseman Tim Zier.
Starter Andrew Hedrick left the game with a 5-3 lead, but the Woodchucks once again battered Eau Claire's relief pitching, with Matt Lynch and Josh Scheffert giving up three runs in 2.2 innings. But former starter Tony Vocca cleaned up the mess on the mound, allowing just one hit in his 2.1 innings of relief.
Zier was the offensive star for the Express, going 4-5 with three runs and the game-winning single in the 10th inning. Ty Forney added a pair of RBI doubles, while Will Fadness finished the night 3-5.
The Express travel to Madison on Sunday to play a single game with the Mallards. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. from Warner Park.
