Eau Claire (WQOW)-Energy use is going up with the temperatures.
As people turn to fans and air conditioners this week to stay cool Xcel Energy expects energy demand to hit its highest level since last July. Despite the demand, Xcel doesn't expect the high temps to cause any outages.
"We're prepared for extreme conditions like this. We design and operate our system and line up power supply so that we can reliably serve the customers," said Liz Wolf Green, Xcel energy.
As energy use increases there are a few ways to keep your bill down. Xcel says one way is to use your bigger appliances like dishwashers and washing machines after 10:30p.m. during off-peak hours.
