Holcombe (WQOW)- Firefighters battled the heat and a house fire Monday northeast of Holcombe.

The Cornell area fire chief says the fire started in a bedroom about a half an hour after the owners left. Firefighters were able to confine it to the bedroom but there's extensive smoke and water damage. No one was hurt, but a cat died in the fire. Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
