It's dangerously hot

Eau Claire (WQOW)- The high temperatures and humidity can increase the risk for heat stroke.

Mayo Health System Eau Claire says it's treated at least four people for heat related illnesses already this week.

Warning signs of heat stroke include headache, tiredness, dizziness, nausea and fainting. Children and adults over the age of 65 are at a higher risk for heatstroke. If untreated, heat stroke can damage your brain, heart, kidneys and muscles.

As the temperatures hover in the 90's doctors want to remind everyone to drink plenty of water and wear light clothing.

"Do whatever you can to keep yourself cool. Stay out of direct heat, try to get a fan, get some ventilation in whatever area you're staying in. If you can get to an area that's cool like a shopping mall or some kind of local business that's great, take advantage of their air conditioning system," said Dr. Paul Harvath, Mayo Health System Emergency Dept. Physician.
