Eau Claire (WQOW)- Officials searching for a new superintendent of schools in Eau Claire say the ages of their finalists is not an issue.
The two finalists for the job are ages 64 and 66. That's older than retiring superintendent Ron Heilman who is 56 and former superintendent Bill Klaus who was 55 when he retired.
But board members say they're not concerned that age will be a factor in whether or not either finalist would choose to stay on the job for a number of years.
"Well we never really considered the long term part cause we assume that anyone that comes will stay as long as the job is attractive and they feel they can accomplish something," says Bob Janke, Eau Claire School Board Member.
School Board President Carol Craig also says the age of the finalists is not a concern.
The finalists are Dr. Mary Ann Hardebeck and Dr. Mark Mitrovich. Dr. Hardebeck currently serves as the assistant superintendent in Leesburg, Virginia. Dr. Mitrovich has spent the past three years as the superintendent of a school Naperville, Illinois.
Meetings will be held so the public can meet both finalists. One for Dr. Hardebeck will be Monday, July 9th followed by a meeting with Dr. Mitrovich on Tuesday, July 10th. Both will start at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial High School.
