Chippewa County (WQOW)- A local dog breeder who had more than sixty dogs on her property is found guilty of dozens of ordinance violations.
Firefighters found the dogs in February while putting out a fire at Katherine Henry's home, west of Tilden. Investigators said the stench from animal waste was overwhelming, and that most of the dogs did not have water.
At a trial Monday in Chippewa County a judge found Henry guilty of 29 counts of failing to possess a dog license, and one count of operating a kennel without a license.
She was fined $6,000. Henry, who no longer lives on the property, had her dog-breeding license yanked by the state earlier this year. But she can still legally sell up to 25 dogs a year.
