Menomonie (WQOW) - A Menomonie man is flown to the hospital after being hit by a car while biking.
It happened Wednesday night around 7:30 at the intersection of 13th Street and Main Street in Menomonie. Police say Jerry Heughins was on a bicycle, traveling north when he went through a stop sign. He tried to brake for an oncoming car and ended up going over the handle bars. Once he was on the ground he was hit by a jeep.
Heughins, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to the hospital with several broken bones, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Menomonie (Press Release) - On July 4, 2012, at approximately 7:26 p.m., the Menomonie Police Department and Menomonie Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of 13th Street E. and Main Street in the City of Menomonie for a report of a bicyclist who had been struck by a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, a 32-year-old male, who was later determined to be riding the bicycle, was found lying in the roadway, conscious but having difficulty breathing.
Menomonie Fire Department rendered medical aid to the patient, who was then transported to Mayo Hospital in Menomonie and later flown to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire with serious injuries.
The crash is still under investigation and the names of the persons involved in the crash are being withheld under the conclusion of the investigation.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting.
