Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire business will shut down, leaving
more than 150 people out of a job.
iPacesetters is a telemarketing firm
that has a facility in the Eastridge
Center.
Thursday, the company told us it
will close, and as of now, plans to do that on August 31st. The company says workers there belong to a
union, but would not say when they joined.
Two years ago, many employees filed complaints with the state over labor
laws. They were required to clock out
during restroom breaks. iPacesetters
eventually agreed to back-pay for those employees.
Eau
Claire's economic development director says the company never received any
financial assistance from the city. Mike
Schatz says they contacted iPacesetters because they want to know why the Eau Claire call center is
being closed, instead of the company's facilities in Monroe or Whitewater.
