NWL Thursday: Mallards 9, Express 4

Madison (WQOW) -- The Express was hoping for a good start to the second half of the Northwoods League season, but Eau Claire can't hold onto an early lead, and loses 9-4 to the Mallards at Warner Park.

The Express bangs out 7 hits, including home runs from Casey Gillaspie, Ty Forney, and Nick Addison, but it's not enough.  Madison gets six runs off Eau Claire starter Matt Trowbridge, who walks five while giving up four hits.  Reliever Kye Winter fares no better, as he gets tagged for three runs on seven hits.

The two teams will continues their series with a 7:05 P.M. game Friday at Warner Park.
