Thousands may lose Internet Monday due to computer virus

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Now may be a good time to do a quick check of your computer.

The FBI says on Monday, tens of thousands of Americans may lose their Internet service, due to a computer virus. Your computer may have been infected by hackers who figured out a way to redirect your Internet searches to bogus websites for profit. Monday, the FBI will shut down the servers used by the hackers. That means, if your computer is infected and you don't take steps to protect yourself, you could lose all access to the Internet.

To find out if your computer is infected, you can head to www.dns-ok.us. If a big green screen comes up, your computer is fine. If there's a red screen, your computer is infected. Just follow the steps and it will tell you what to do to fix the problem.
