U.S. Senate candidate talks about President's plan to extend tax cuts

Altoona (WQOW) - A candidate for U.S. Senate is weighing in on the president's tax proposal.

On Monday, Eric Hovde was in Altoona for his "Take Back Washington" tour.  During the stop, Hovde was asked about President Barack Obama's plan to extend the Bush era tax cuts, but only for those making $250,000 or less.

"As far as President Obama, I saw just a little bit of his clip today, talking about it, and I thought, this is just another case of him being hypocritical," says Eric Hovde, (R) U.S. Senate Hovde.  "On one case he is arguing against tax cuts, on another case he is shifting for it because the job numbers on Friday were abysmal. So, he is constantly shifting to try and figure out how to try and get himself re-elected."

Hovde is one of several Republican's eyeing the seat of retiring Senator Herb Kohl.  A primary will be held in August.
