Study: Pets help your kids grow up healthy

FINLAND (WKOW) -- Your pets could be helping your kids grow up healthy.

Researchers in Finland say babies who have a cat or dog around during their first year have fewer health problems than those who don't.

The study found that newborns had fewer respiratory infections, ear infections and needed fewer antibiotics. Researchers say contact with animals helps the immune system to mature in infancy, creating better resistance to infections.
