Georgia's Duluth aims to help Minnesota's Duluth

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) -- Residents in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth are collecting work gloves to aid flood recovery efforts in their sister city by the same name 1,200 miles away in Minnesota.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that the effort is aimed at helping Duluth, Minn., residents clean up and make repairs. As many as 10 inches of rain pounded the Duluth area of northern Minnesota over two days last month, breaking a more than century-old record.

Alisa Williams, a spokeswoman for the Georgia city, says residents are donating work gloves to show their support and concern for the sister city.

Officials say anyone interested in helping is asked to bring new, adult-size work gloves to City Hall in the city just northeast of Atlanta by July 20.
