Menomonie (WQOW) - The Menomonie School District is offering residents
some extra credit when it comes to future school needs. For the past few
months, the district has been studying its future building needs. It recently
got a report back on the study, and is now looking community members to help
zero in on what would be best for the school district.
"We're talking
about a substantial, possibly substantial, amount of money," said Menomonie
School District President Colleen Davis.
In June, the Menomonie school
district got a report of district's building needs. The report covers
everything from maintenance, to adding on to several schools.
"We need to know
what people can afford, what our options are, we want them to come back and
tell us what the community is looking for in our schools. It is a significant
investment in the community, so they should have a part," said Davis
The cost of the various projects
ranges from $17 million to $80 million. To get a better feel for what the
public wants, the district is forming a task force.
"We're hoping
they'll help the board make these decisions, so there's not just 9 people
hanging out there working on this two times a month," Davis said.
Davis says feedback will be helpful to
determine how the district moves forward.
"We're looking to
survey the community as a whole, so people who are interested in finding out
what the district will look like maybe in fifty years, how our schools will
look like," said Davis.
The district is hoping for 10 to 15
people to get involved. There is no age requirement. For more information, just
call the Menomonie
School District office.
